Erosion control is the practice of preventing or controlling wind or water erosion in agriculture, land development, coastal areas, river banks and construction. Effective erosion controls handle surface runoff and are important techniques in preventing water pollution, soil loss, wildlife habitat loss and human property loss.
Erosion controls are used in natural areas, agricultural settings and urban environments. In urban areas, erosion controls are often part of stormwater runoff management programs required by local governments. The controls often involve the creation of a physical barrier, such as vegetation (hydroseed), to absorb some of the energy of the wind or water that is causing the erosion.
When seeding on a slope, cut or fill, it takes skill and knowledge to ensure proper soil stability. There are options when it comes to erosion control application methods, however most options require non-biodegradable materials and don't offer complete coverage. Hydroseeding is a far more effective way to seed and is Grassroots Erosion Control's preferred erosion control method. Everything we use in our hydroseeding applications is natural and biodegradable.
Grassroots Erosion Control uses the highest quality material. Our seed mixes contain natural additives that help the seed grow quickly, while protecting it from tough external conditions. Even on the steepest slopes, our fiber mulch and tackifiers help secure seed mixes to the ground. Hydroseed mixes can hold up to 10 times its weight in water and allows the water to slowly release, keeping the seed moist over time even in a drought. A hydroseed application can often address erosion issues automatically. As the application hardens, many erosion problems can be held at bay until the seed comes in and establishes itself as a permanent erosion inhabitant.
Grassroots Erosion Control uses state of the art hydroseeding equipment that covers far more area than crews installing blankets by hand and does it more uniformly with a slurry that’s created to meet the demands of the terrain. Straw blankets are inefficient on uneven ground, where the only point of contact might be where its stapled into the ground. Grassroots Erosion Control's Hydroseed applications, on the other hand, cover all of Mother Nature's contours.
